Cannolians | Freedom Trail Mystery Tour
We transformed Boston’s Freedom Trail into a 1.5-hour puzzle adventure for eighty people from five different international cities who had one thing in common: they’d never seen a financial services conference like this before.
The mystery centered around Boston’s favorite dessert (the cannoli, obviously) and required teams of five to navigate historic landmarks, interact with eight live actors, unlock high-tech QR and augmented reality puzzles, and uncover clues inside Paul Revere’s House itself.
The hardest part wasn’t designing the puzzles or coordinating the actors or even figuring out how to make augmented reality work seamlessly on the Freedom Trail. It was watching international attendees fall in love with Boston in real time while solving a mystery we’d built specifically for them.
That’s when we knew this wasn’t just an event. It was a love letter to the city.

Our Impact
We Transformed a Historic Icon Into a Custom Experience
The Freedom Trail is Boston’s most iconic tourist destination. We didn’t just send people on a tour. We turned it into an interactive puzzle adventure where the history becomes part of the gameplay. That’s not guiding. That’s experience design at the highest level.
We Coordinated 80 International Attendees Across Multiple Locations
Managing 80 people from five different international cities, split into teams of five, navigating live actors, AR puzzles, and historic landmarks requires flawless logistics and real-time coordination. We executed that at scale without a single group getting lost or missing their window.
We Built Custom AR/QR Puzzles Into a 350-Year-Old Building
Paul Revere’s House isn’t just a clue drop. It’s a working puzzle location. We integrated cutting-edge augmented reality technology into a historic landmark and made it seamless. That kind of technical sophistication in heritage spaces is rare.
We Created a Narrative Around Boston’s Iconic Food Culture
Centering the entire mystery around cannoli isn’t random. It’s smart positioning that makes international attendees feel connected to Boston’s identity. A financial services conference from five different cities became a love letter to Boston’s culture in real time.
We Positioned Trapology as a Strategic Partner for Major Conferences
Financial services conferences vet experiences carefully. We were selected for a premium attendee engagement slot, which positions us as a trusted partner for high-stakes corporate events with sophisticated audiences.
We Demonstrated City-Scale Experience Design
This wasn’t contained in our venue. This was a 1.5-hour city-wide experience that required coordination with multiple historic locations, live performance across outdoor spaces, and real-time puzzle management. We proved we can scale immersive design across an entire city.
